FAQ’s

  1. HOW DO I BREW MY LOOSE LEAF TEA?

  1. Brewing loose leaf tea is simple!

1.) 3-5g of tea per 8oz: The more tea, the stronger the taste. If you don’t have a scale, you can use 1-2 teaspoons.

2.) Choose your method of brewing: A popular way to brew loose leaf tea here in United States is with a tea ball infuser. While convenient, this gives the tea limited room to expand and release all of the flavor and oils retained within the leaves. We recommend letting your tea steep in a cup. This way, your leaves have plenty of room to expand and give you the most out of your tea. Use any sort of strainer you have laying around your house.

3.) Water Temperature: The water temperature is crucial to getting the brewing a great cup of tea. Water that isn’t hot enough can result in a weak brew, while using water that’s too hot can burn the leaf and leave it tasting bitter.

    Green & White Tea: 160-185°F (70-85°C)

    Black & Herbal: 200-212°F (93-100°C)

    Oolong: 185-205°F (85-96°C)

4.) Brewing Time: We recommend a general 3-5 minutes for every tea. Brewing time largely depends on how strong you like the taste of your tea.

2. WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF LOOSE-LEAF TEA COMPARED TO TEA BAGS?

Better Flavor: Loose leaf tea typically has a richer, more complex flavor because the larger leaves have more room to expand during brewing, allowing them to release their full range of flavors and aromas.

Higher Quality: Loose leaf teas are made from whole leaves or minimally broken leaves, whereas many tea bags use lower-grade, finely broken tea leaves, or tea dust. This difference in quality can result in a more nuanced and enjoyable cup with loose leaf.

Multiple Infusions: Loose leaf tea can often be re-steeped multiple times, providing several cups of tea from the same leaves, while tea bags are generally designed for a single use.

More Antioxiants: Loose leaf tea contains more antioxidants than tea bags because the whole, unbroken leaves retain their natural compounds and nutrients better, resulting in a more potent and beneficial brew.

3. HOW DO I STORE MY LOOSE LEAF TEA?

You should store your loose-leaf tea in an airtight container, away from light, heat and moisture. This keeps the tea fresh and flavorful.

4. HOW LONG DOES LOOSE-LEAF TEA STAY FRESH?

Loose leaf tea can stay fresh for 6 to 12 months if stored properly. Herbal teas might last a bit longer, while delicate green teas are best consumed within 6 months.

5. HOW MANY TIMES CAN I REUSE MY LOOSE-LEAF TEA?

You can reuse your tea as many times as you want! Just know that with each infusion, it looses more flavor. We typically recommend 2-3 times with Green Teas and Herbals, and 3-4 with any other. Pu’erh however can be reused up to 8 times.

6. HOW MUCH LOOSE LEAF SHOULD I USE PER CUP?

We recommend a general 3-5 grams per 8 oz cup. Adjust this as you’d like; More tea for a stronger flavor, less tea for a lighter flavor.
